Where does the crew live while you build a data centre?

Data centres in the Nordics are often built outside the big cities, in places such as Narvik, Tydal, Mo i Rana and Time in Rogaland. You get furnished homes near the site. We search and map homes from the site address, not the nearest city, and send a non-binding quote with addresses, photos and move-in date within 48 hours.

Who is the housing for?

Main contractors and subcontractors with crews on the project: electrical, cooling and HVAC, concrete, groundworks and installation. Crews often rotate, often come from abroad and are often spread across several projects at once. We take on companies with 10 or more employees, usually for six months or more.

How many workers need housing, and for how long?

At Nscale's site in Narvik there were around 350 workers in June 2026, a number expected to rise to at least 1,500 as construction picks up (TIME). The need changes with each phase. A lease is signed for each home, with a notice period matched to the length of the project, and we extend on request.

What is everyday life like for the crew after the shift?

The crew comes home to an ordinary home with a bedroom of their own, a place to cook and quiet to rest before the next shift. The homes are fully furnished, with electricity and internet included, and as close to the site as we can find. If something comes up, a leak, a missing key or a resident who needs to be replaced, we take care of it.

What do Norwegian rules require for worker accommodation?

When an employer provides housing for staff in Norway, the accommodation requirements in chapter 3A of the Workplace Regulations (arbeidsplassforskriften) apply, in force since 01.06.2024. The main rule is a single room per worker as bedroom (Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority, in Norwegian). We rent out with one worker per bedroom. Read more in the article on accommodation requirements.

What about deposit, contract and invoicing?

You pay no deposit. We use a company guarantee instead, so you tie up no capital. A lease is signed for each home. You have one contact person from check-in to check-out and get one invoice a month for every home, marked with your project reference.

Are you building on one of these sites?

Questions & answers

What companies ask.

Can you find housing in small towns near the site?

Yes. We search and map homes from the site address, not the nearest city, including places with few homes for rent, and send proposals once we have found homes.

What is included in the homes?

Homes are fully furnished with bedding, kitchen equipment, washing machine and dryer. Electricity and internet are included. Parking where available, and cleaning and EV charging on request.

Do we have to pay a deposit?

No. We use a company guarantee instead of a deposit, so you tie up no capital.

What happens if the project is delayed or extended?

A lease is signed for each home, with a notice period matched to the length of the project. If the project is extended, we extend on request.

Do you rent to individual workers?

No. We only rent to companies with 10 or more employees, usually for six months or more.
