Crew accommodation for data centre construction
Short answer
HomeShare provides furnished homes for crews on data centre projects across the Nordics. We find homes as close to the site as possible, and your company gets one contact person and a single invoice for all the homes. You hear from us within 48 hours with how we will house the crew. Where does the crew live while you build a data centre?
Crews on data centre projects usually live in furnished homes near the site, with their own bedroom, a kitchen and a washing machine. Data centres are often built outside towns, where there are few rental homes and little hotel capacity. HomeShare therefore searches from the site address, not from the nearest town. You hear from us within 48 hours with how we will house the crew.
Who is the housing for?
Main contractors and subcontractors with crews on the project: electrical, cooling and HVAC, concrete, groundworks and installation. Crews often rotate, often come from abroad and are often spread across several projects at once. We take on companies with 10 or more employees, usually for six months or more.
How many workers need housing, and for how long?
At Nscale's site in Narvik there were around 350 workers, a number expected to rise to at least 1,500 as construction picks up (TIME, 04.06.2026). The need changes with each phase. A lease is signed for each home, with a notice period matched to the length of the project. If the work runs longer, we ask the landlords to extend the leases.

For crews working long days over several months, a furnished home near the site usually works well. Each worker gets their own bedroom, and the home has a kitchen, washing machine, electricity and internet, so the crew can cook their own meals, wash their work clothes and rest properly after the shift. A short commute means more free time and less wear, and the lease is matched to the project, whether the crew stays a few weeks or several years. Hotels are usually priced per night, with shared breakfast and a shared laundry room where available. Site cabins need land, permits and utility connections before anyone can move in. See the comparison below.
What do Norwegian rules require for worker accommodation?
When an employer provides housing for staff in Norway, the accommodation requirements in chapter 3A of the Workplace Regulations (arbeidsplassforskriften) apply, in force since 01.06.2024. The main rule is a single room per worker as bedroom (Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority, in Norwegian). Each worker gets their own bedroom. Read more in the article on accommodation requirements.
What about deposit, contract and invoicing?
You pay no deposit. We use a company guarantee instead, so you do not tie up capital. Each home has its own lease, and you have one fixed contact person from check-in to check-out. All the homes go on one invoice per month, marked with your project reference.
Where are data centres being built in the Nordics now?
Data centres are being built in several places in the Nordics, among them Narvik, Vennesla and Time in Norway and Køge in Denmark. Below you find the places with their own page on crew housing, and the table lists the projects we follow in the Nordics. If you are starting a project that is not listed, send us the address and the number of workers. We map the homes near the site, and you hear from us within 48 hours with how we will house the crew.

Apartments, hotel or site cabins?
On projects that run for years, everyday life after the shift decides how well the crew is doing. When something goes wrong along the way, what people notice is how quickly it gets solved, and that is where the options differ.

Questions & answers
What companies ask.
Can you find homes in small towns near the site?
Yes. We search from the site address, not the nearest city, including places with little to rent. We do not promise homes until we have found them, but we handle the whole search and the coordination.
What is included in the homes?
The homes are fully furnished with bedding, kitchen equipment, washing machine and dryer, and electricity and internet are included. Parking comes with the home where available, and cleaning and EV charging can be arranged as needed.
Do we have to pay a deposit?
No. We use a company guarantee instead, so you do not tie up capital.
What happens if the project is delayed or extended?
A lease is signed for each home, with a notice period matched to the length of the project. If the work runs longer, we ask the landlords to extend the leases.
Do you take on individual workers?
No. We only take on companies with 10 or more employees, usually for six months or more.
